Mondo Officials visit Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

Two officials from Mondo, Hajara Tafida-Isa and Egle Küngas who are on a monitoring and evaluation mission to KoCDA in Kongo of the Upper East region, visited one of Ghana’s iconic tourist centres, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. With them was Dr. Kingsley Saa-Touh Mort, KoCDA’s coordinator and head of programs. Hajara and Egle were delighted with the visit to the park, given the current impressive state of the park. There is always something new to learn when one visits the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. The recent refurbishment makes it a must visit. A lot to about Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s personal life, education and family, his political activities, towering achievements as Prime Minister and first President of Ghana and also his overthrow, demise and tributes. Included currently at the park is now a created walk way to the meseum, and on the walls are famous quotes, background replay of short speeches he delivered. While walking to the meseum yesterday with our important guest from Mondo, I reminded myself of some important quotes of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. They include: “At long last, the battle has ended! And thus, Ghana, your beloved country is free forever!” “Our independence is meaningless unless it is linked up with the total liberation of the African continent.” “We face neither East nor West: We face forward.” “I am not an African because I was born in Africa, but because Africa was born in me.” “We prefer self-government with danger to servitude in tranquility.” “Freedom is not something that one people can bestow on another as a gift. They claim it as their own and none can keep it from them.” These are just some of the few quotable quotes one is entreated with visiting the Park.
